The route from Whixall Marina to Audlem and return is 55 miles and 48 locks and based on working 7 hours per day, will take 4 days and 6 hours, allowing some time to explore Nantwich, Audlem and perhaps the Secret Bunker at Hack Green. On the approach to Audlem, be sure to turn around (wind) prior to the locks, otherwise you will have to go up through all 15 locks, onto the next winding hole and return.
The route from Whixall Marina to Market Drayton and return is 67 miles and 82 locks making it more of a challenging journey for the one week hire. This will take 6 days and 2 hours based on working 7 hours per day. As you head towards Audlem, there is a flight of 15 locks designed by Thomas Telford that raises the canal from the Cheshire Plain by 93 feet (28m) higher to the Shropshire Plain.
